Buddy Walk

   Southern Maine Down Syndrome Family Network, and the National Down Syndrome Society are sponsoring a Buddy Walk on Sunday, September 23th, 2007 at Payson Park in Portland, ME. (Map below)
    The Buddy Walk was founded fourteen years ago to celebrate October as National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and to promote awareness and acceptance of Down syndrome.
    Registration for our walk will begin at 12:00pm, and the walk will begin at 1:00pm. Between 12 and 1:00 there will be puppets, face painting, a jump house, and other activities. After the walk the Ancient Mariners will put on a concert.  Admission for the walk will be as follows; Adult,$10; Family(2 adults, 2 children), $20; additional children under 13, $5.  Pledges are not required, but are encouraged.  Admission includes lunch.  The first 500 walkers registered will receive Buddy Walk t-shirts.  After the walk, a band will provide entertainment.
